  Wesley A. Godwin 

of Counsel

A native of Marietta, Georgia, began his education at the University of Georgia and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Maryland and then continued his educational endeavors at Woodrow Wilson Law School.  Wes has also obtained certificates in Construction Project Management from Georgia Institute of Technology and Development Authority Training from the University of Georgia. Wes is a Viet Nam veteran serving as a Forward Air Controller in the U.S. Air Force.Wes has over 30 years in the development and general contracting industry as a licensed general contractor, developer, and licensed underground utility contractor.  He was formerly owner of the Macland Company, a custom millwork manufacturer and installer for hotel, law offices, hospitals, and corporate offices and owner of Sentinel Homes, LLC, a medium-size & luxury homebuilder.  As past President of Deventer North America, Inc., a commercial General Contractor, he specialized in strip shopping centers, mixed-use structures, loft condominiums, office buildings, single and multi family residential, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and active adult senior living homes. Wes’s past board memberships include President of the East Cobb County OptimistClub, Vice Chairman of the Marietta Museum of Art, Director of the Marietta History Museum Emeritus, and he sat on the board of Down Town Marietta Development Authority and the Marietta Historic Board of Review.

 JAN HUNNICUTT 

Jan began his work with McCay Kinchin (MK) in August 2013, and has provided construction management and oversight of tenant buildouts for Hibbets Sports, Jackson MS., MAX’s Wine Dive, Atlanta, GA. and interior renovations of a 42-story Highrise Apartment building in Chicago, IL.  Jan also provides the MK’s construction claim and expert witness services for outside clients and contractors. Prior to joining MK, he spent 11-years as a Senior Project Manager with de Oplossing Inc, a General Contractor / Developer located in Marietta, GA.  During this period he managed over $90,000,000 in new construction and/or renovations, including schools, office buildings, and mixed-use developments throughout the east coast and  southwest USA. During his career Jan has been instrumental in developing a strong relationship with professional Architects and Engineers for the pursuit of the growing opportunities in the design-build arena.   He now brings those relationships to MK, where the firm is moving   rapidly into the role of provider of integrated services that begins in pre-construction and extends beyond the construction phase into warranty, maintenance and operations services.

 

A graduate of the University of Georgia - Athens, Jan holds a bachelor degree in Landscape Architecture and has been involved in the design-build, development and construction industry for over 42 years.  He started his career with Joseph C. Shaw & Associates, Landscape Architects, Miami, FL. in 1974.  He moved to Kansas City, MO. in 1975 and spent the next 22 years with Black & Veatch, Engineers-Architects, where he developed a broad range of skills from construction / project management, real estate development, cost estimating, master planning to environmental investigation and remediation.

 

Jan has been married to his wife Theresa for 42-years and together have one daughter.  For the past 15-years Jan has enjoyed a hobby of buying, moving and restoring old historical homes.


  Stephen Adams 

Born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, Stephen began his career in the construction industry working on a framing crew for a small general contractor during high school. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from Georgia Southern University. Stephen spent the first few years after college with a large international construction firm and now serves as the Senior Project Manager for McCay Kinchin & Associates. Stephen is a licensed General Contractor in the State of Georgia.



 Drew Godwin 

After graduating from Pacelli Catholic High School in Columbus, Georgia, Drew attended Auburn University where he obtained a degree in Business Management.  Starting as a carpenter's helper in middle school, Drew has learned the development and construction business from the ground up.  He has served in all capacities from helper, to framer, to trim man, all the way to site superintendent and project management.  He has worked in the construction field throughout his middle school, high school, and college career.  Drew quickly rose through the ranks and is currently in charge of Business Development for McCay Kinchin & Associates, LLC. His duties also include real estate site selection, acquisition and divestiture as well all aspects of pre and post development procedures.  Drew is a licensed real estate agent and a certified property manager (CPM).

  Lt Gen Joe Redden USAF Ret.

Joe Redden served a thirty-five year career in the Air Force.  During that time, he was mission ready in eight different aircraft, and was qualified as an instructor pilot in five of them.  His early years were spent in flying units, and he commanded a fighter squadron and a fighter wing.  His staff and senior experience included: Leader of a think tank in the Pentagon (Checkmate Group); Inspector General of Tactical Air Command; Commandant of Cadets at the Air Force Academy; Director of plans for the Pacific Air Forces; Commander of the Joint War Fighting Center; and Director of Education for Air Education and Training Command. Those duties were:

  • Evaluating the ability to execute wartime missions against evolving enemy threats.
  • Evaluating joint weapons systems, which saved $265M annually from the DoD budget.
  • Evaluating the combat readiness and mission readiness of all units in Tactical Air Command - then the largest command in the Air Force.
  • Responsible for the military training and professional development for the 4400 member cadet wing.
  • Responsible for the administration of the disciplinary system and the Cadet Honor Code.
  • Programmer for the Five Year Defense Plan for PACAF (annually $2.1B) and manpower manager for the 100,000 assigned personnel.
  • Responsible for the execution of Air Force Foreign Military Sales programs in the Pacific.
  • Negotiator for basing and range access with Australia, Singapore and Indonesia.
  • Executing war gaming support and analyses for the Joint Chiefs of Staff exercise program.
  • Responsibility for the military and professional education for all Air Force enlisted personnel and officers - included five accredited degree granting programs as well as Officer Training School and Air Force ROTC.

 

After retiring from the Air Force, he served as the Superintendent of Schools in Cobb County, Georgia.  The District had 103,000 students, 13,00 employees, 116 schools and a budget 0f $1.026B.  He has also served as a member of the leadership development team for the Stupski Foundation.  Joe is currently an associate at McCay Kinchin & Associates, a firm focused on facilitating public/private partnerships to meet community infrastructure, educational and redevelopment needs.

 

 

  Larry F. Jones

The foundation for Larry's construction success is a B.S. degree in Construction Management and an Associates degree in Architectural Technology, both from Purdue University, plus over 30 years of experience.

 

de Oplossing, Inc. employed Larry in September 2001 as the Claims Division Manager.  Prior to joining de Oplossing, Inc., Larry was Director of Operations in the MariettaGeorgia office of Walton Construction Company, Inc., a Kansas CityMissouri based ENR Top 100 general contracting firm.  At Walton, Larry's management responsibilities included claim management, contract administration and construction staff management.

 

Larry's other construction based responsibilities have included positions as contracts manager, project manager, regional construction manager, and vice president.  These responsibilities offered opportunities to direct teams up to 40 employees and manage department budgets and projects of up to $100,000,000.  Larry's construction experience includes working for Harding Construction, an Atlanta, Georgia based ENR Top 100 general contracting firm, where he managed the construction of 14 to 27 million-dollar hotels; Metropolitan Structures, a Chicago, Illinois based ENR Top 100 development firm, where he worked on the 100 million-dollar Mercantile Exchange Center and the 27 million-dollar Buckingham Plaza Condominiums; and Koger Properties, a Jacksonville, Florida based nationally known Owner / Developer of office parks, where he developed 30 million-dollar office buildings and parks.

 

Larry offers a balanced blend of technical competence, business know-how, communication skills and a talent for cost effective decisions.  Larry's key strengths are personnel management and development, written and oral communications, the ability to manager projects and develop appropriate procedures, support systems and problem solving.  As such, Larry brings a variety of experience and expertise of both the construction and claims process to the management team.
